Origins & Distribution:

Hyang is an ancient spiritual being, an unseen entity widely known in the spiritual traditions of the Malay, Javanese, Sundanese, Balinese, and Kawi cultures. They are not merely "subtle spirits" but rather belong to a primordial race — lembut kuna — that has inhabited the Nusantara realm since before recorded human history.

Among the many Hyang races we have explored, Hyang Bantala is one of the most influential in matters of wealth and authority. They are predominantly found in the Tangkoko Forest, North Sulawesi — a mystical and wild region believed to be a meeting point between the human world and the underworld spirits of the earth.

Although their origin is rooted in Java, Hyang Bantala’s presence there is quite limited. It is very likely that this race is also known by different names in other islands, depending on the local spiritual language and ancestral cultural practices.
